Miggy has allegedly been working out like crazy in Detroit during the winter. Trying to get a six pack set to go for spring training. Eating only fruits and vegetables. Telling people this is the year he's going to step up and earn his Salerno.
Rumor is the Tigers are looking to extend Miggy another 5 years out to 2029 at $35 million/year. Smart move as he will definitely outplay his current contract and command more than $40 million per year in the open market come 2029. That have to lock him in now.
Miggy is still the premier power hitter in baseball. Do not bet against him winning another MVP in 2018. The Tigers are looking to extend his contract as it is one of the more favorable contracts for a player of his caliber. Throw in his gold glove fielding and the Tigers are getting a legitimate steal.
Miggy funny! I wike wachin him kick da ball when he twys to bend ober. He wooks wike a dancin bear! Daddy says it's not powite of me to waff but I can't help it. Sincerewy, Widdle Kid wiff oversized sideways cap.
Miggy's contract is very favorable to the Tigers because he was so good 5 years ago. Players should be rewarded for how good they were, not how good they are. That's the only fair way to do it. If Miggy only hits .225 next year with 10 home runs, he's still worth the money because he won the MVP award a few years ago so that means he's capable of returning to form.
Miggy is a superstar who's worth twice what they're paying him. If you look at his stats this year, remembering he's about to go on a tear, nobody can argue he's underpaid. The Tigers ripped him off with that 10 year contract, and he has every right to be pissed off. He's the best hitter in baseball and a golden glove first baseman.
Miggy is by far and away the best Tiger in 2017. He won't get the AL MVP consideration he deserves, but everybody in the league knows he's the most dangerous hitter in baseball. At some point he'll turn it around and end up with a .330 average 35 HRs and 130 RBIs. He still has half of August and most of September.
