I realize he had a "hit" tonight. But why not take a game and start Torreyes at DH? The kid is always ready to play, and getting youth involved in this lineup might be better than giving an aging soon to be free agent some more swings and misses on balls that are about to hit him?
these chase headley headlines are infuriating. he has struggled for just about all of the season. it is now september and he has like 9 home runs. how do you know your offense is sputtering? chase headley is driving your offense. what a joke. this season is just about over. at best the yankees are getting the wild card game and will be one and done.
It's an easy formula to follow when forecasting a players performance outcome. Just look at his past statistics, i.e. the line on the prior years. You'll see very little deviation from year to year in BA, Home Runs, Runs Scored, Hits (provided he's fully healthy). Now if you see a radical departure in statistics for a specific year that's called the outlier (trendy I know). Headley, will never have an outlier year because he's a bloop singles hitter. If he's currently batting .270, then he's peaked and he will revert to about .251 and that will pretty much be his 2017 BA.
He's playing scared, look at his at bats, obviously he has no confidence. Yankees need to move on from him now, he's nothing more then a bench player, only reason he's playing is because Cashman give him 52 million, another dump contact.
The reason why Headley remains the starting third-basemen for the Yankees is the fact they don't have a better alternative. We've been hoodwinked and I suspect the Yankee brass is slowly coming to this realization. Not a single one of these recent call ups has impressed. In fact they are all putrid. Think about it, we were told ad nauseam, how the Yankees got the better of the deal with Chapman and how we got top shelf prospects. Do any of these losers look like blue-chip talent to you? Tyler Wade is a joke, Tyler Austin is god-awful, that bozo looking Frazier dude should be riding a donkey at the local rodeo. None of them can supplant Headley because they have no talent. The experts told us this crop was young and talented. Clearly that is not the case. If I have to witness one more of these reprobates in their debut, with their goofy family in the stands praying for them to get a hit, I think I'll stick my head in the oven!
